Justin Bieber Allegedly Assaulted a Paparazzi
Justin Bieber Allegedly Assaulted a Paparazzi
Looks like Justin Bieber is toughening up. The singer allegedly assaulted a paparazzi after the man attempted to take a picture of him and his girlfriend, Selena Gomez, when they were walking out of a theater at The Commons in Calabasas.
Currently Bieber is wanted for interrogation, and his publicist has not given any statements to the press… or the police for that matter. Do you think Bieber will finally show up at the Sheriff’s office? After all, he could face a misdemeanor battery charge for what he did.
Hahahahahahaha! Seethe cute little Canadian kid stars hanging out with all those hip hop guys and thinks he's a hard man. Damn that rap music. What's next Drake arrested for trafficking charges. Am I the only one that finds this hilarious?

Urban Clothing - Surviving In A Digital World!
Urban Clothing - Surviving In A Digital World!
Urban Clothing in is infancy was considered by some to be nothing more than a passing phase that was expected to quickly fizzle out. Going on four decades later it's easy to see that urban clothing, and more importantly urban culture have become a household understanding. Fashion brands that were originally designed for minorities have seen their brands enter into exclusive deals with some of the most reputable retailers associated with designer fashion world wide. However, the question that rests with everyone is, how has urban clothing thrived where many other fashion genres have failed?

Miguel Cotto Uses Ecko T-Shirts to Help Promote Fight....And More!
Miguel Cotto Uses Ecko T-Shirts to Help Promote Fight....And More!
As May 5th is quickly approaching we are looking at probably the kick off to the best sporting year in ages. Miguel Cotto and Floyd Mayweather Jr. will faceoff to continue along the path to solidify each person’s legacy as a world class hall of fame worthy fighter and as the best of all time. However it is important to understand another aspect of this fight, and that’s the business element.
Year after year all fight fans hear about “Money Mayweather” and how he, on his own, holds the record for most PPV buys, on top of a few belts in a couple of weight divisions. Or you may have heard that in the Mayweather absence, Manny Pacquiao quickly moved up the ranks to the number one pound for pound boxer in the world, and became one of the 15 highest paid athletes on the planet. If you have heard all of this then you may be curious as to where Miguel Cotto can even come into the conversation.
First of all let’s look at the fact that, Miguel’s last fight saw him rake in 600,000 PPV views. If you’ve been following along, that’s number three on the most views list behind you guessed it, Money and Pacquiao. Then we have the endorsements. Cotto has had a long standing agreement with Ecko Unltd, and for the most part to many consumers is considered the face of the brand. Now with probably the biggest fight of his career looming, He is putting himself in position to make a lot of cash, not just on the fight, but in the endorsements and fan memorabilia long after the fight is over.
As part of his positioning and in celebration of the upcoming event, a limited edition Miguel Cotto Ecko t shirts collection consisting of eight distinct items has been launched by Ecko Unltd urban clothing. And to help promote the fight globally and to aid in cementing himself as the fan favourite for the fight, Cotto has been to visit troops in Germany.
"Cotto is one of the best in the boxing world, so it became natural for us to start a relationship with him. Along with Miguel his team and family are the best in the industry and together we have achieved unprecedented success." said Eric Samson, Director of Sports Marketing and E-commerce at Ecko. "We're excited about the May 5th fight in Las Vegas because it's a big deal for Cotto and the Ecko team. Our multi channel marketing campaign activating this event has helped drive notable attention to an already highly anticipated event."
Cotto is also working with Ecko MMA in an effort to help cross promote for the brand. The Ecko marketing and e-commerce team in conjunction with the Cotto camp has arranged banner ads, photo shoots, social media campaigns, video production and other initiatives with a focus on digital. Both Miguel and the urban clothing brand have a highly engaged digital customer base which will definitely work towards promoting this fight as well.
So while “Money Mayweather” may make all of his earnings on the fight itself, Cotto has adopted a true hustler’s spirit and put himself in a position to profit, once again, long after he is done with boxing. What are your thoughts on Miguel Cotto as a businessman?

Why Urban Clothing Is A Frustrating Business To Be In!
Why Urban Clothing Is A Frustrating Business To Be In!
You would think this would be an easy question to answer, however, to someone who is not familiar with the subculture, they think they have it figured out when they really have no clue. I'll give an example. I usually tell people, "oh, I'm an urban clothing retailer" the response is almost always the same, "so you sell clothes that are two sizes to big?." or "so you only sell baggy jeans and hoodies, I don't wear that type of clothing?" ARGHHHH!!!!!!!!!
I realise that over the years hip hop has taken a couple of knocks and some may even say it hasn't always presented itself in the right light. Well okay fine but if that was the past, what about now? Has urban clothing not evolved into something more presentable globally? I believe it has!
So to those who honestly think that urban clothing is nothing more than oversized fashion I always challenge them to look around, not just at my site, but at others in the market. This is the only way to truly see that urban clothing and hip hop music is a culture, and like in true culture is is always evolving and that it is always progressing. I also generally let them know that because it is a progressing culture, that trying to label it as one thing says more about them as an individual than it does about the culture.
What are your thoughts? What frustrates you the most about urban clothing? I look forward to hearing some responses.

T.I. Brings Out Family, Keri Hilson, & Yelawolf at AKOO Fashion Show
It was a family affair as T.I. hosted a fashion show for his AKOO clothing line in Atlanta last night. The King and his queen Tiny held court with Tip’s mother and their children, who sported some of the runway fashions and even performed. The star-studded affair, hosted by comedian Kevin Hart, drew celebs such as Keri Hilson and Yelawolf. The event was taped for the season finale of VH1’s “T.I. and Tiny: The Family Hustle.”
Rumor has it that Tip and Tiny are expecting another addition to their happy family, but you’ll have to tune into their show to find out.

Urban Clothing Designers - How Twitter Can Help Spread The Word About Your New Line!
Urban Clothing Designers - How Twitter Can Help Spread The Word About Your New Line!
Without question Twitter is responsible not only for the rise, but as well for the maintenance of some of the top urban clothing brands today. Twitter is by far the easiest way to get your message out and to gain a faithful following, but the problem is actually getting followers. While some people may disagree, setting up a twitter account and then every single post being a "buy my stuff" style post is the easiest way to get ignored and probably loose business before you ever actually get any. It may seem crazy but if you want people to notice you on Twitter, you have to interact with them first. If you are an urban clothing designer and you really want to get your line to soar, speak to the retailers that you feel your line would most compliment. Use the @ symbol to speak to the major players in the industry without sending them DM's, which actually seems to be the worst way to interact on Twitter. An example message may be something like, "@nustylze, I love your streetwear selection, I think my designs would be a perfect fit, can I send you my designs to see what you think?" or something along those lines. This opens up a conversation but isn't pushy, most retailer will at least look, because it may save them time from having to go to tradeshows.
The days of just getting big via word of mouth are pretty much over if you really want your urban clothing lines to get picked up at the next level, your gonna have to do some leg work.
If you guys have other ways that you are using Twitter to propel your business, I'd love to hear it.

Drake Shows Off Canadian Pride at NHL All-Star Game [Video]
Drake wore his Canadian pride on his sleeve while attending the 2012 NHL All-Star Game at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, Canada, on Sunday (Jan. 29). Sporting a custom NHL jersey with his name on it, the Toronto native took the ice to perform his hit “Headlines.”
“If you’re proud to be Canadian tonight, I want to hear you make some noise one time. Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Drake, I grew up on the sport that we are here celebrating this evening, and this is one of the greatest honors I’ve ever received,” said the hip-hop star, who also visited the players in the locker room.
“I grew up playing hockey. I used to play right wing,” said a gracious Drizzy as he shook hands and took photos with the all-stars, who were equally excited to meet him.

In Soul Swagger News: President Barack Obama Invited to American Idol
This is long overdue but we’ve always thought President Barack Obama has a true soul in him and finally it leaked for the good of the people. Although he once joined famous singers like Jennifer Hudson, Smokey Robinson et cetera in singing “Lift Every Voice and Sing” at the Civil Rights Concert back in 2010, this one particular time is when he really let his soulful voice shine.
Recently the president spoke in front of his supporters at Harlem’s Apollo Theater and spilled a bit of Al Green’s legendary hit “Let’s Stay Together” and the crowd went wild. Check the video below:
Apparently this caught the attention of American Idol’s head honcho, Nigel Lythgoe who immediately took on Twitter and invited the president to perform the song in a duet with the original singer on the reality talent search show.
There’s no response from Obama’s Twitter account yet, but it sounds like a good idea both for the president in this election season and also American Idol which has not been great in recent television ratings.
Do you want to see the president singing a duet with Al Green?

Obama Killed SOPA For Now
Obama Killed SOPA For Now
Wednesday January 18th, 2012 was a huge day of protest around the web as anti-SOPA support swept into the Internet community. Websites like Wikipedia and Google went on a “blackout” to show their support to the movement that took place in the same day that the House Judiciary Committee hearing was scheduled in Washington DC.
The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP were created to fight online piracy by preventing US search engines like Google and Yahoo from directing their users to websites that distribute stolen contents. Companies will be able to sue for any copyright infringement. President Obama has stated that he’s against both bills and therefore will not show support and this killed SOPA for now, putting pressure on senators for the coming January 24th, where legislation of the Protect IP is scheduled to go before the senate.
The White House stated:
“Any provision covering Internet intermediaries such as online advertising networks, payment processors, or search engines must be transparent and designed to prevent overly broad private rights of action that could encourage unjustified litigation that could discourage startup businesses and innovative firms from growing. We expect and encourage all private parties, including both content creators and Internet platform providers working together, to adopt voluntary measures and best practices to reduce online piracy.”
The debate is far from over. Do you think President Obama made the right decision?
DC Comics Unveils New Identity
DC Comics Unveils New Identity
Set to be unveiled across various products and media beginning in March 2012, the new DC logo will adapt to fit the distinctive brands, characters and marketable objects to which it will be applied. The logo is a component of the company’s aesthetic overhaul which includes the successful, albeit controversial New 52, a publishing initiative whereby the entire superhero line was relaunched with new #1 issues in an attempt to draw new readers. The old “DC Spin” logo was introduced in 2005 as a replacement for the classic “DC Bullet” that had been in place since the 1970s. The design of the new DC Entertainment identity uses a “peel” effect – the D is strategically placed over the C with the upper right-hand portion of the D peeling back to unveil the hidden C – symbolizing the duality of the iconic characters that are present within DC Entertainment’s portfolio.
